PhD Program in Cognitive, Computational and Social Neurosciences - CCSN

This PhD program is an interdisciplinary training opportunity for anyone wishing to specialize in the field of neuroscience, and cognitive and behavioral sciences. Students from different backgrounds who demonstrate an interest in studying disciplines concerning human behavior, the mind, and its complexity, with a focus on psychophysiological, neurobiological, and neuropsychological aspects are eligible for this program.
It is part of the Network of European Neuroscience Schools, consisting of more than 200 institutions specializing in Neuroscience.

All you need to know

  • The ideal applicant is interested in doing research in neuroscience, psychology and cognitive science, without necessarily having previous training in these fields.
    The CCSN program welcomes PhD candidates with a general-level education in one of the following areas:
    • Psychology
    • Cognitive Science
    • Neuroscience, Medicine
    • Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Social Science, Human Science
    • Engineering
    • Logic and Philosophy of science
    • Behavioral science or in contiguous areas
    • Cognitive Psychology and Psycholinguistics

    The planned courses for the 2024/2025 academic year will be organized in seven modules:

      The CCSN program aims to identify research criteria that can create a synergy between academia and business.

      Therefore, PhD students develop skills suitable for pursuing academic careers in the public and private sectors, as well as institutional, professional and entrepreneurial roles, nationally and internationally.

      This program was created with the desire to train researchers to find innovative approaches, develop critical thinking, and identify advanced methodologies for data analysis.

      Starting from basic skills in the field, it aims to identify creative solutions designed to study basic cognitive, computational and social neuroscience using traditional experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience methods.
